For years, while attending Florida State for my B.A. and after graduating, I’ve been interested in attending an even during FSU’s Seven Days of Opening Nights. The problem is that they sell out so fast that its tough to get a ticket. Well, I was on the ball this year and the day that tickets went on sale, I barely secured two tickets to see Art Garfunkel perform at Ruby Diamond Auditorium in the Westcott Building on FSU’s campus.

Last night, Erin and I saw Art Garfunkel and it was a fantastic show. I neglected to take my camera, but we both were so mesmerized by his voice that I probably would’ve forgotten to take any pictures anyway. As for the crowd, it was sold out, and we were, by about 20 years at least, the youngest people there. But it was a great atmosphere and I am very thankful for the opportunity to hear and see him live. To hear him sing “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was amazing. He was a good showman too, pausing after songs to tell stories of his life, his partnership with Paul Simon, and to read some of his poetry. I can’t say enough about it, except that we are looking into some of the other shows that still have tickets available (The Wailin’ Jennys primarily) and cannot wait for next year’s event.
Chris Botti, Keb’ Mo’, Martin Short and Salman Rushdie, among others, are all slated to perform or speak over the next two weeks. I highly recommend that you try to catch at least one event if possible.
